Welcome to Dirt and Things. This blog is put together as a journal and resource center for my favorite hobby - gardening. In particular, it is geared around gardening in zone 5.

Hi. My name is Sara. I realized a while ago that all my favorite hobbies involved doing things from scratch. I like to grow my own food, make my own jewelry, cook my own meals, write my own software, you see where I'm going from here.
My father always had a garden when I was growing up, and although I don't find weeding relaxing as he does I love being able to start with a seed and grow food to eat for the whole season.
I work with glass as well, I have a small glass kiln in the garage that I use for annealing flame worked beads and figurines and for fusing glass.
